Little Happies

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Matthew 6:26-27

Lately I’ve been really restless. Trying to find an job, and not being able to. Depression and anxiety were setting in.

Today i went out with one of my best friends. We had a wonderful day, and I realized something: i need to look for the little, happy things in life. There is no use worrying about something that i have absolutely no power over. No matter how many jobs i apply for, I still have no power over what someone else decides.

I need to look at the little things. God uses them to keep me afloat.

A friend and I were talking about this a few months ago, about how we need to sometimes focus on the “small happies”-as I like to call them-that God sends our ways every day.

We can’t control everything-even though many of us-myself included-may want to. But, I have realized something, no matter how much I control something, it will never make me happy. I am a very indecisive person, and what I may want now, may not be what I want in a month, a year, or even ten years.

And as hard as it is to give up control, I feel ten ties better about it in the end.

i have a history with depression, and I know the triggers. Sometimes, I start listening to really sad music, or I start to fold into myself and retreat to my bedroom where I don’t have to deal with anyone. I think I have figured it out though, I have to look at the good things that happened. No matter how small. sometimes it’s just focusing on “Hey, I didn’t burn my pancakes this morning!” or “There’s enough hot water let for me to have a shower!”-and in a family of five- that is no small feat! LOL.

Well, i guess this is what I’ trying to say is this. Sometimes life is really, really frustrating. And sometimes you don’t have a clue what the next step to take is. Matthew 6:27 is right. CAN we add a day to our lives by worrying? Is there ANY benefit to worrying? No. there is no use to worrying. So, focus on the small stuff, sometimes that’s all you can do to to stay afloat!

Shining your Unfading Beauty, my lovelies!

Xoxo,

~Kristen~
