I recently read an article called “How cleaning your house like crazy can relate to your body image” (You can read the whole article here!)
While I was reading this I started thinking about how NOT cleaning your surroundings can relate to your body image as well!
The more I got to thinking about it the more I started applying some of these thoughts to my life and realized how true it is!
I’ll be the first to admit that I am NOT a tidy person, and the more I thought about my cleaning habits and how I look at myself, I started to see similarities. Now, don’t get me wrong, I make sure I dress nicely at ALL times, but the deeper I looked the more I realized the truth in it! I’m that girl who desperately hates running and tend to not really care too much about what kind of stuff I’m eating. Hence my realization that my not caring about taking great care of my body also ties in to how I’m not altogether bothered about the state of my surroundings.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I definitely care when things get absolutely hideously untidy, but if things are somewhat untidy, I’m not one to jump up and clean it up right then and there.
Since I realized this, I’ve started caring more about my surroundings, and unsurprisingly, I’ve also started to care more about taking care of my body and exercising and eating better!
“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT)
This has got me to thinking more that if I truly want to honor God with my whole life, that includes the body he gave me!
Now, I’m not saying I’m never gonna eat something bad again….In fact, I can assure you that it’s gonna happen. But, as I managed to do today and chose not to buy that $1 pack of gummy candies that were tempting me, I can make daily choices about how I’m going to treat my body.
What are your thoughts? Do you think that your house cleaning habits relate to your self-image? Let me know in the comments!
